Overview
The UWS is a young institution that encourages creative, independent thinking and innovation. It is located on six campuses in western Sydney, the capital of New South Wales. With links to industry and other tertiary institutions internationally, the University focuses on delivering education that is academically excellent and practically oriented and its degrees are recognised internationally.
The student-teacher ratio enables a more personal experience in teaching and learning and students are encouraged and supported by the University’s well-trained, professional staff. Degree pathways are flexible and many are accredited by the peak professional bodies in those fields.
Location
The University is located on six campuses in Greater Western Sydney, offering a range of choices of learning environments from the more culturally diverse areas of Bankstown and Blacktown, through the semi-rural areas of Campbelltown and Hawkesbury, to the lively and bustling areas of Parramatta and
Penrith. The facilities and resources of these communities provide unique insights into the cosmopolitan and culturally diverse heartland of Sydney, the state’s capital.
Campuses
Bankstown campus is located on 22 hectares at Milperra, 40 minutes southwest of the CBD. This campus hosts the Early Childhood Centre, the MARCS Auditory Laboratory, Nursing laboratories and the Centre for Education Research. Facilities include student accommodation and up-to-date teaching and learning spaces in modern, spacious buildings set amid landscaped gardens.
Blacktown campus is located at Quakers Hill, about an hour from the CBD, close to Blacktown, and adjacent to two senior high schools and a TAFE college. The campus hosts Pathways Progams UWS College, which offers Diplomas, and also provides student accommodation and state-of-the-art teaching and learning facilities.
Campbelltown campus is located on 166 hectares, about one hour from the Sydney CBD. The campus hosts UniClinic (Health Science), Moot Court, anatomy and nursing laboratories and biomedical imaging facilities. There are on-campus student accommodation and state-of-the-art teaching learning facilities set amid a semi-rural landscape.
Hawkesbury campus is set on 1,300 hectares in the Hawkesbury Valley, near the foot of the Blue Mountains. The campus is a 90 minute train ride from the Sydney CBD and hosts the Equine Research and Demonstration Unit, the Food Processing Pilot Plant, Crime Scene House, the Confocal Microscope Facility and animal science research facilities. It also offers student accommodation and
state-of-the-art teaching and learning facilities set within a relaxed rural community.
Parramatta campus is a heritage-listed site located at Rydalmere, ten minutes form Parramatta and 30-45 minutes from the Sydney CBD. It hosts Moot Court, computing and nursing laboratories, and offers student accommodation and state-of-the-art teaching and learning facilities.
Penrith campus is set on 158 hectares in the adjacent suburbs of Kingswood and Werrington, about and hour and a half from the Sydney CBD. The campus hosts the Mechatronics and Robotics Facility, Computer Research and Industrial Design Centres, recording and design studios, photo and computer labs, a disability learning centre and the Golden Stave Music Therapy Centre. It also offers student accommodation, state-of-the-art teaching and learning facilities, cafes, bars and sporting facilities.

The UWSCollege offers English language tuition through its General English, Academic English for Tertiary Studies, and Advanced Academic English courses.
Entry Requirements
English language requirements:- undergraduate admission generally requires an overall IELTS of 6.5 with no band less than 6.0; postgraduate admission generally requires an overall IELTS of 6.5 with no band less than 6.0. Requirements may vary with the course chosen or with research degrees.
Academic requirements:- undergraduate admission generally requires the successful completion of the equivalent of Year 12 High School; postgraduate admission generally requires the successful completion of the equivalent of a Bachelor degree. This may vary depending on the postgraduate qualification sought.

The University of Western Sydney has a variety of short sessions and terms in its academic year, with different commencement dates. An AA Education Network counsellor will advise you of the times and dates you need to know about for your application to to the UWS.
Student activities
uwsconnect provides students with on-campus activities and recreational outings through clubs, the University Games, sporting scholarships, gyms and pools, food outlets and the UWS International Student Recreation Program.
Students also organise informal social, recreational and cultural activities by accessing the resources of their local communities.
