Location
James Cook University is located on tropical north coast Queensland, in the cities of Townsville and Cairns, while it has urban campuses in Brisbane and Singapore. Both Townsville and Cairns are modern cities that have been growing rapidly in recent years, yet still preserving their laid-back, tropical way of life. Both cities feature prominently in Queensland’s history, from the booms in pearling in the Torres Strait and the gold rushes, featuring in the cattle, mining, fishing and sugar cane industries up til the present day. Both cities are relaxed, cosmopolitan and multicultural, set in the stunning environment of the northern tropics of the state.
Campuses
Townsville campus is set in nearly 400 hectares of natural bushland about 13 kilometres from the city’s CBD. Facilitieis include research and teaching facilities, student accommodation, sporting facilities bars s and cafes and library.
Cairns campus is located among coastal mountains around 15 kilometres north of the CBD. Facilities include student accommodation on the beach opposite campus, research and teaching buildings, gymnasium and sporting facilities, bar and café.
Brisbane campus is located in the CBD and specialises in business studies and information technology. The campus offers a three-trimester academic year to help fast-track studies and offers access to jup-support services and English language studies.
Singapore campus offers fast track degree studies and lower course fees. The training is at the same standard as the Australian campuses. The city is the busiest port in the world characterised by state-of-the-art communications and information technology, and a very affordable lifestyle.

Entry Requirements
English language requirements:- undergraduate admission generally requires an IELTS of 6.0 with no band less than 5.5; postgraduate admission generally requires an overall minimum IELTS of 6.0 with no band less than 5.5. The exact requirements vary depending upon the degree or postgraduate course in view.
Academic requirements:- undergraduate admission generally requires the successful completion of the equivalent of Year 12 High School, and varies depending upon country of origin; postgraduate admission generally requires the successful completion of the equivalent of a Bachelor’s degree and sometimes a higher degree and/or relevant work experience.
